Mary + Luke :: Engaged!

Since it's sort of cold + dreary outside on this February morning, I thought I'd share some bright, fun engagement photos!

First of all, I just have to share Mary + Luke's adorable "Save the Date" postcard! Such a perfect representation of both of them! This set the perfect tone for their April wedding at the Mint Museum Uptown.

LOVE the Save the Date postcard that this fun couple sent to their guests!
Mary is an alum of UNC-Chapel Hill, Luke graduated from Appalachian State University where he was involved with the football program and they are getting married in Charlotte (where you will often find him sporting some seersucker & her wearing a totally adorable sundress!)
 Now for some fun eye candy to brighten your day, check out this completely adorable & totally stylish enagagement session from Kristin Byrum Photography!
Mary + Luke also enlisted the help of the super talented & always swanky Melissa Lamkin for her styling expertise!  So excited to work with her on their wedding day, too! {PS: Happy Birthday, MGL!}

Sassy! Love it!

I absolutely adore this shot! Captures their personalities perfectly!

Obsessed with Mary's hair & makeup in this shot!

If y'all only knew what lurked behind that "look"....

Aaron doing his best directing work. I seriously wish I could have been a fly on the wall at this shoot....

Cheers!

Winter Wedding Inspiration :: Baby It's COLD Outside!

Happy New Year from Sweet November Events!  In honor of the crazy snowy/icy/freezing weather we've had lately, I thought it would be fitting to do a blog post devoted to winter weddings!
Don't get me wrong, I love a good spring or fall wedding or even summer on the beach.  But these pictures make a crisp, snowy winter wedding look pretty darn good!

Enjoy...and stay warm!

Lake Lure Wedding :: Kelly + Johnny

I knew when I met with Kelly back in September 2009 that we were going to LOVE working together! She has a pug (Otis) and her favorite color is green.  And to top it off, she was planning her September 25, 2010 wedding at Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure, NC which is one of my favorite places ever!

After many brainstorming sessions and some mind changing, here is the inspiration board Kelly sent me that she was basing all of her ideas & decor around. I love how closely everything ended up relating to her original thoughts!

And here are some pictures of the decor & details from the wedding

One of my favorite details was the cocktail napkins Kelly ordered.  They said "I've Had the Time of My Life" which was the last song of the night.  The song is from "Dirty Dancing" which was filmed on Lake Lure where Johnny & Kelly were married!

Here are some of my favorite shots from the day from the super fun Krista Faulkner.  Even though it rained (OK, poured) during their short ceremony, Kelly & Johnny had such a great time!  I'm not sure Kelly left the dance floor all night!

Kelly with "Philly" who was part of the wedding party.

Beautiful "kelly green" bridesmaid dresses from The Bridal House!

Love this candid shot during their first dance!

The couple's Kate Spade toasting flutes, a gift from the groom's parents.  Per Johnny's request, he toasted his new bride with beer!

The couple's favorite band "Simplified" rocked the reception...and even let the groom play a few tunes with them!

After their sparkler exit, the newlyweds left on a boat and returned to the house on the lake where the entire wedding party was staying.  I'm told they all celebrated until the sun came up!

And this last picture is for my amazing assistant, my husband Steve...who so lovingly hung at least 50 of these paper lanterns...which took multiple hours in the September heat & humidity.  He swears he'll never do it again, but they looked amazing! :)

{Side note: Kelly has recently taken up photography and putting her wedding gift from her hubby to good use!  You can check out her blog here!}

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Hill!  Best wishes for a lifetime of love & happiness!

Cheers!

Sweet November :: New Website!

Since I "officially" launched the new business name & logo on November 1st, it's only fitting that I get the website launched by the end of the month, right?  Well, since today is November 30 that means it's DONE!
{Well, for now anyway- there are still a few things I want to finalize and I need to get images from my most recent weddings, but in the mean time...} here it is!  I would LOVE to hear your feedback so feel free to leave a comment {or send an email if you'd rather}  I hope y'all like it!

And since I'm so technologically challenged, I have to give lots of love to the amazingly talented {and always patient} Ashleigh McHenry for her mad skills and to the fab Jess Bishop from JessLehry Designs for my new logo & color scheme.  Y'all rock...for real!

Cheers!

All that glitters is gold (or any other color...)

A few months ago I stumbled on a picture of the most fabulous shoes!  Now I only need a really good reason to buy them & someplace to wear them!
Anyway, with the holidays fast approaching I thought I'd find some fun accessories that have some sparkle & glitter to them!  Everything from scarves and clutches to eyeliner and nail polish.  Just be sure not to over do the glitter factor!

scarf: Target  clutch: Anya Hindmarch  eyeliner: Bobbi Brown  eyeshadow: Chanel  nail polish: OPI  belt: ArdenB
bracelet, hair clips, bobby pins: forever 21

Have you seen any other sparkly accessories for brides, maids, gifts, holiday parties, or just a fun spice up to an outfit for work?  If so, leave me a comment & let me know what your favorite glittered accessory is!

Cheers!
